What We Do

We strive for a community where
all people are thriving.

This means that every individual has access to prevention and wellness services, secure affordable housing in supportive and safe neighborhoods, and ample nourishment that leads to healthy lives and minds. It means that every child is equipped with the tools and resources necessary for success in both school and life.

To achieve this, our efforts are concentrated in three key focus areas. These focus areas align with Kennebec County’s community-wide movement – Impact2032 – which strives to improve the health, education and financial stability of all Kennebec County residents by 2032. Impact2032 is led by United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV), driven by community partners and sponsored by generous business supporters. Donations to UWKV support nonprofit and school-based programs that address health and human services and align with Impact2032.

AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

Building Strong,
Healthy Communities

Health affects individual experiences as well as families, communities and schools – impacting the economy in terms of financial and productivity costs.

Giving All Kids
Equal Opportunities

Our ability to support children in reaching their full potential academically impacts the well-being of the entire community. Education achievement correlates with health, income and long-term success.

Improving Financial
Stability for Everyone

Reducing poverty and increasing financial stability are sound social investments for Kennebec County – generating strong returns to society in the form of reduced expenditures on health care, decreased crime rates and improved quality of life.
